Avoro: KVM VPS with AMD Epyc Processor from German Webhost

Introduction: Avoro’s offer for VPS  Webhosting in Frankfurt

Note:  The KVM VPS service from Avoro was discontinued in July 2020. Avoro and PHP Friends have merged in early 2022, a good combination of two good German webhosts. They continue to offer webhosting in Frankfurt.

Below you will find the original post which was published in February 2020.

Avoro recently posted their AMD EPYC special offer on Low End Talk. This was the same offer they had posted during the “Palindrome Day” deals thread.

Previously I had had considered their Black Friday offer but decided against it. This time around, for a little over 3 Euros a month, they offered the following:

Specifications of the KVM VPS

AMD EPYC special
1 dedicated CPU core
5 GB DDR4 ECC RAM
50 GB SSD
10 Gbit / s shared
1x IPv4 & 1x IPv6 / 64
2 TB traffic
DDoS Protection
Location: First Colo / Frankfurt am Main

This was a good set of specs for the price and I decided to dive in.A KVM VPS on AMD Epyc Processor, 5 GB RAM, for under 4 US Dollars a month is a good price. Note that this is a minimum 3 months term contract, and you have to pay in advance. For non-EU residents,at the time of check out, do not pay the invoice, wait till a new invoice (which excludes the VAT) is generated.

Upon ordering, the server took about 6 hours to be provisioned.

Benchmarks for Webhosting based in Frankfurt

I ran the usual battery of tests : YABS, Bench.sh, nench.sh
The results from Speedtest and YABS are posted below.

Conclusion: Avoro’s KVM VPS on AMD EPYC Processor

This AMD Epyc based KVM – Virtual Private Server from Avoro looks like a good buy. I am setting it up with Gridpane to create a test website, for further testing. At 3 Euros a month (less than 250 INR at current exchange rate) this one looks like a keeper? Time will tell.
