Introduction: VPS service from Webhorizon in Poland
Webhorizon, a webhosting provider from India, had posted an offer on the low end talk about a VPS in November 2021. The location was interesting: Romania. I already had a VPS in that location with the once popular (and now maligned host, Hostsolutions). For the Webhorizon VPS, the specifications and the price looked interesting enough since this was a pre-launch offer. At that time I was in the process of consolidating the providers, and since I already had a couple of services with Webhorizon, namely an email service as well as a NAT, or a network attached terminal in Singapore. Therefore, it made sense to have one more service with them. This VPS comes with OVZ technology for virtual private server. There were issues galore right from the get go when I ordered this particular service. Their upstream provider in Romania kept delaying the delivery date and as a result of which the VPS never got provisioned. So around December WebHorizon asked if I would be interested in getting VPs in Poland, and I agreed to it. In terms of network performance or speeds, Poland or Romania did not make too much of a difference. The processor seemed decent: an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU at 2600 Mhz, 80 GB disk space and 4 GB RAM. Things checked out well.Update February 2022
I had run YABS benchmark in November, and again in January. The latter for the following reason: In January 2022, WebHorizon announced that they had received status as as a network provider, and they were essentially going to change the IP address and probably the network a selected set of virtual private servers. They wanted to know if I would be interested in getting the IP address changed sooner or by 31st of January. By the end of January 2022, they were going to change the ip address and network settings for everyone. Anyway, so around the 20th of January, I opened January I opened a ticket and asked them to make the changes. I was traveling at that point in time, it was only yesterday that I saw the ticket, noticed the change in IP address, and I fired up the system. And to my surprise, the processor had been upgraded to a Ryzen 7. So I ran the YABS benchmarking script again. Improvements in disk speeds, network and most importantly CPU are noticeable. This system has not been put to production use just because of these changes. But looking at the performance, it is a matter of time before something is set up!| Comparing the results from geekbench | ||||
